EMR Software Demonstration & Selection |
As EMR and practice management (“PM”) software experts, one of our consultants will meet with the physician(s) and/or practice administrator to determine the needs and goals of the medical office. The consultant will select (or help to select) the best EMR software options that should be considered and will participate vendor supplied software demonstrations along with the client. The consultant will then summarize their findings and provide a recommendation for the best EMR and/or PM system(s) based on the functionality and flexibility of the systems in light of the size, specialty and specific needs of the practice. All potential EMRs will be assessed to ensure that they qualify for the Office of the National Coordinator’s and CMS’ definition of “Meaningful Use” and preferably have been CCHIT certified.

Initial Assessment & Workflow Analysis |
Drawing from over twenty years of experience in medical billing, coding, and front office management, ITMC's sister company, enPHLO offers a deep understanding of the relationship between office workflow efficiency and a healthy revenue cycle. When asked to assess workflow EMR implementation, key staff members will be observed and interviewed to gauge workflow effectiveness including front desk operations (appointments, registration, insurance verification and cash collections), clinical processes and billing/accounts receivable procedures (collections, coding and reimbursement). At the conclusion of the initial assessment the client will be provided with a written summary of preliminary findings, including suggestions for improvements and increased efficiency with regard to workflow and billing/collection practices. |
Because EMR and PM systems are major purchases, generally purchased only once by medical offices, practice administrators usually do not have an efficient way to educate themselves sufficiently to succeed in optimal software negotiations. Because our consultants know the available systems and speak the language of both IT and medical software vendors, we can help medical practices avoid miscommunication, false expectations, and sub-par services. Based on budgetary parameters and expectations established in concert with the practice, enPHLO will negotiate (or participate in negotiations) with vendors to ensure that the correct quality products and services are obtained on preferable terms. As experts of the various medical specialties and both the hardware and software aspects of EMR and PM systems, our consultants will provide the edge needed to keep your implementation at or below budget allowances. |

EMR Hardware Infrastructure |
Our electronic medical record (“EMR”) division is comprised of both medical practice experts, EMR consultants and information technology (“IT”) engineers who work in tandem to successfully select, design, implement and support EMR systems. We are experts committed to helping physicians experience the benefits of EMR, including improved quality and ease of patient care, maximized staff efficiency, and coding for the highest possible reimbursement. Educated in the local and federal EMR initiatives, we often can help lower the financial burden of clients’ EMR implementations when possible by helping them leverage federal incentives provided through the HITECH Act .

Software File Build and Template Review |
There are many tables and lists that are practice specific which must be built before data can successfully be entered into EMR and PM systems. Our consultants can help a medical practice identify those areas and ensure that all critical file builds are in place before the “go live” date of a software implementation. The use of many EMR software systems is driven by templates populated by the staff and physicians as they document patient encounter notes. These templates typically are very flexible. Our consultants work in conjunction with software vendors to modify and customize them based on individual physician’s needs, integrating the new electronic workflow which has been established. |
Staff Training & Workflow Conversion |
Sufficient staff training is a major key to successful EMR implementations. An enPHLO consultant can act as an intermediary between a software vendor and your clinical and billing staff to ensure that all employees are adequately trained and prepared to work in their new electronic environment, suffering a minimum of productivity loss. All individual workflows and job responsibilities will be diagrammed and converted to an electronic methodology during staff training sessions. Cash flow and accounts receivable will be monitored to eliminate loss of revenue or decreased or delayed reimbursement. These processes ensure that only best practices are being adopted and inefficient procedures are not carried forward to the new electronic environment. |
